When should someone consider therapy?
If someone is unhappy or dissatisfied, overstressed or traumatized, therapy is a good place to explore emotional, energetic, psychological, and spiritual solutions.
You think that people can't do this on their own?
Sometimes, and other times they can do it with significant others. But when pain gets in a way of very functioning and growth, a trained professional who has special techniques and understanding dedicated to helping and healing, makes an enormous difference.
Most people have some image of psychotherapy. What is it really?
Psychotherapy takes many forms. Mostly it involves the development of a safe environment and a trusting relationship where a person in pain feels unconditionally accepted by the therapist, which in turn allows a crisis/conflict resolution and potential growth. Healing involves this as well but offers more than talk - it provides techniques for energetic, emotional and spiritual balancing and integration. The main goal of healing thus is to awaken and enhance the healing power a person already has by bringing it to their consciousness.
What is Coaching? Is it different from Therapy and Healing?
Coaching can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, your goals, your dreams, and help any impediments that keep you from achieving optimal success. Whether it is a life transition, problem managing your business, career blocks or trouble creating satisfying relationships, a coach helps you determine what you want even when you're not sure what it is, keeps you motivated during the rough spots, and helps effectively achieve the results. Coaching is usually provided through phone and email contact. Holistic Life Coaching by Helen Kagan embraces her high professionalism, compassion, spirituality , and deep knowledge in the fields of psychotherapy, alternative therapies and Holistic Healing.
Can your healing services help to cope with consequences of traumatic events?
Of course. It is well known that many people who have been traumatized have suffered the unspeakable. The traditional therapy usually offers to talk about the unspeakable. Of course, it's a part of the healing process, but the whole process of healing a trauma involves healing of the mind, body, and spirit.
You mentioned Reflexology, Reiki, Cranio-Sacral and Polarity Therapy, what is that?
These are hands-on energy healing modalities that I integrate in my practice along with other traditional and alternative therapeutic approaches.
Reflexology - is an ancient system of bodywork that uses the stimulation of the reflex points on the feet, hands, and ears. Each organ, gland, and body part is reflected and can be reached through these reflex points. By stimulating or sedating them, reflexology enhances blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, detoxification, relaxation, and proper functioning of the body and psyche.
Reiki, Universal Life Energy, is a gentle non-invasive Japanese ancient form of natural healing, an energy-based system for stress reduction and holistic healing. Reiki uses light touch from the practitioner to channel Universal healing energy to the recipient. It is used to relieve physical and emotional pain and to promote spiritual clarity. Reiki also speeds up the healing process and balances the body’s energy.
Cranio-Sacral Therapy - is a newer approach of hands-on energy healing, and it restores the natural rhythms of the whole organism. It is scientifically proven that there is a subtle wave-like pulse moving through the fluids surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Constriction or blockages in the surrounding membranes can affect the transmission of this core pulse throughout the body's energy fields and structures, which in turn affects the person's emotional, mental, and physical condition. Cranio-Sacral Therapy uses a very gentle touch synchronized with cranial rhythms to allow the release of these constrictions to restore balance and harmony of the whole organism.
Polarity Therapy asserts that life is an interrelated dynamic whole whose functioning depends on unobstructed energy flow. Polarity Therapy is based upon the principles of Ayurvedic Medicine, Yoga philosophy of balance, and Yin & Yang as polarities of the human body and mind. It is a unique integration of Healing touch, Acupressure, Reflexology, Cranio-sacral balancing, Energy exercises, and other healing modalities.By balancing the nervous system, releasing the energetic and emotional blockages and muscular tensions, improving the psychosomatic conditions, restoring the vitality and physical well-being, Polarity Therapy helps people to become aware of their body-mind-spirit connection, resolve their long-standing emotional and/or physical problems, and find inner peace and health.
What can someone who comes to see you expect?
What actually occurs in the session will vary with what the person wants and is ready and willing to explore. Energy healing often involves lying on a massage table, but it isn't just bodywork, it is very non-invasive, and the individual remains fully clothed which is particularly important for many people who have been traumatized. Sometimes energy work ends up looking more like psychotherapy, or coaching sessions will lead to energy healing work. Helen’s unique integrative approach involves working with mind-body-spirit in accordance with her Holistic Intelligence™ principles.
‘ The treatment modalities used in a session depend on the individual needs, readiness to explore, and the resources available. What everyone who comes to see me can expect and will experience is unconditional respect, compassion, understanding and knowledge. I believe these are the most essential aspects to any healing relationships’. Helen Kagan
